Narrative Therapy is a post-structuralist model of counselling that believes that people form narratives or stories about themselves and their lives, based on the cultures they have been immersed in, including cultural and societal social pressures and ‘norms’. Narrative Therapy enables individuals to ‘re-author’ their stories, helping them to shift problems causing them distress by allowing new perspectives to be explored and ‘preferred’ narratives to be accessed and embodied.
Coaching, unlike psychotherapy, is interested in helping individuals identify their own solutions and supports them to implement these discoveries into their lives. Instead of focusing on the ‘root’ of them problem (though this can certainly be explored) and ‘diagnosing’ people, coaching instead empowers people to recognise their own patterns and how they would like to successfully overcome them.
In some cases having a more active advisory support system is the most beneficiary course of action. In these cases Johanna works with her clients in a more directive way, offering ideas, directions and avenues to be explored together, helping to reach any identified goals.
Art and creativity are wonderful mediums for self-expression and self-exploration. Often, Johanna uses drawing, painting and making as therapeutic tools. In some cases, entire courses of action might be centred on a creative project, which is discussed and explored together as sessions progress.
Each session lasts 1 hour. Cost is dependant on personal circumstance. Suggested cost: 200 NIS/ $50
